The package also includes transportation to the Santa Fe Mall, Latin America's largest shopping complex, access to the fitness center and spa and early check-in / late check-out. The 3-day, 2-night Independence Stay package costs $700 per room based on double occupancy, representing a 40% savings. If guests prefer to stay overnight on September 16 to extend the celebration, the cost is $210 per room plus taxes. Mexican Independence Day, a celebration of Mexico's independence from Spanish rule, begins every September 15th at 11 pm in every single city and town in Mexico. At that time, in all areas of Mexico City, the Municipal Presidents along with the country's President ring a bell similar to the historic liberty bell that Father Hidalgo rang to call the people almost 200 years ago. Then they give the El Grito or The Cry and the crowds of thousands echo it back. After the last cry the Municipal Presidents wave the flag, ring the bell, and the National Anthem is sung. The parties continue into the night with food, fireworks and performers.

The 209-room Marquis Reforma Hotel & Spa offers guests handsome surroundings in a post-modern, Art Deco influenced style. Most of the guest rooms are suites. A highlight of the boutique hotel is the luxurious 16,000 sq. ft spa, the largest in the city and only member of Leading Spas of the World in Mexico City. The marble, colonnaded spa features 11 treatment rooms, Swiss shower, sauna, Jacuzzi, steam bath, indoor swimming pool and fully-equipped fitness center. The hotel's two restaurants are presided over by a chef honored at the illustrious James Beard House in New York. Los Canarios, set to debut in Summer 2007 as a power hot spot for the elite, specializes in Cocina de Mercado, Spanish-Mexican cuisine inspired by what's fresh in the day's market. On fashionable Paseo de la Reforma in the heart of Mexico City's cultural and financial district, the Marquis Reforma provides immediate access to the city's finest parks, museums and restaurants.
